How to Jailbreak Your iPhone with JailbreakMe

10 Aug

This is a short outline on how I used Jailbreakme.com to jailbreak my iPhone 4 and what I can do now that it’s Jailbroken.

First off the Jailbreak guide, it’s fairly simple and in fact it’s the easiest Jailbreak I’ve ever ran.

Step 1: Make you your iPhone is backed up in iTunes, in case something goes wrong.

Step 2: From you iPhone, go to JailbreakMe.com.

Step 3: Slide to jailbreak.

Step 4: Sit back, relax. JailbreakMe will be downloaded to your iPhone and will work its magic. When done, a pop up will tell you that Cydia has been installed.

Step 5: Reboot your iPhone. You don’t have to, but it’s always a good thing to do

Now to a few of the fun things you can do with your Jailbroken iPhone.

Adding Flash to your iPhone

Step 1: Your device must be jailbroken, you can follow the guide posted above.
Step 2: Open Cydia Go to  “Manage –> Sources”
Step 3: Tap on “Edit” and then on “Add”. Type http://apt.iphonemodding.com or  http://repo.benm.at then hit “Add Source”

Step 4: Search for “Frash” install it and reboot you iDevice.

Now you can visit your favorite flash based website.

This has been tested on my iPhone 4 running IOS4.1

You can also now tether with the help of a one time fee of $20, vs the monthly fee from AT&T.

I’ll go into detail on how you add MyWi 4.0 to your iPhone in another post.

Thanks for checking out my blog, let me know if you have any questions or problem Jailbrekaing your new iPhone.

Jailbreakme made it ten times easier to Jailbreak your phone. My first JB's I had to edit the firmware file and upload them, such a hassle!

Thanks Brandon! I am following you on Twitter now as well so I am jazzed about that. Is there any risk involved for the overall health of your phone when conducting the jailbreak?
