What does it take to be a successful forum owner?

2009 November 24

I’ll go over what it really takes to be a successful forum owner and how you should go about building your empire in the following weeks. I have a few people that I’ve already mentioned this blog post to, and they are very interested in being showcased. If you’ve built a successful forum and would like me to do a blog post on you, please contact me via email and I’ll consider adding you to the list.
Some of the topics I’ll highlight will be.community

  • How you can easily build backlinks and traffic to your forum.
  • What you should consider when building your community (members point of view)
  • What topics/threads should you start up on your forum?
  • Should you use a CMS?
  • Types of sites you can build to support your forum.
  • What forum script I would suggest.
  • Check out the competition.

I’m looking forward to writing these reviews, I’ve had the privilege of watching these forums grow up while I ran vBulletinSetup and I’m honored to have known these admins.

Here is my first article in the series. (I’ll update this list as the articles get published)

    Hi Greg,

What did you do to say it isn't working?
It's setup with feedburner, so it should all be automatic. I'll test it out when I put out my next article, but AFAIK it works fine.
    Thanks for letting me know

hmm, from this i can tell that you definitly like vbulletin and the joy it brings in configuring it and managing it. Giving advice on what it takes to be a successful owner takes a successful owner at first to do it.

I have a good amount of experience running forums and helping others build traffic, but I'm always interested to hear what others have done to achieve the same goals.
Thanks for subscribing to the blog and pointing out the email link :)

I am new to forums and find it a lot of work with a fair share of drama. I am committed to building the best fun and educational remodeling site and to make some money from it eventually.
My site is 6 months old and is growing at an OK rate, of course I'm not sure what an OK rate is.

Remodel Crazy is the name of my blog and forum.
Good information here, I bookmarked you and will visit.
    Thanks
